The more and more I thought about it, the more I realized that in every decision I have made there is fear…to get married the third time…playing Div 1 college water polo at age 25…investing in becoming a speaker…my first speaking gig at Timex.
All these moments had elements of fear included in the decision process, but the difference was that, it was just an element and not THE ONLY ELEMENT. I don’t want this to sound ego driven, because it is not. I am confident in who I am and what I can and will do. I have developed confidence by failing…not getting my dream job at Disney after I already moved down there for it…only doing 23 Half Ironman Triathlons for the Guinness Record after I had 30 on the schedule.
Fear will never leave you. It will always be present to lend its perspective on what it thinks is safe to do. Tell it “SHUT UP but thank you”, then dig your heels in and don’t be afraid of the bruises & cuts you will get along the way. I fear not living…what do you fear?
